Lecture

No signal? No problem.

Ladislav Bačo (ESET)

What happens to communication when the power goes out and mobile networks stop working? Availability, one of the pillars of information security, suddenly stops working. We will show you one of the solutions. MeshCore, a decentralized LoRa mesh network built by volunteers that does not need a server, mobile operator or internet. We will build it ourselves, for a few euros, and we will try it out.

Workshops

Vulnerabilities of HTTP transfers

Michal Copko (SPŠEKE)

We keep hearing that we should avoid sites that do not use the HTTPS protocol. During this workshop, we will tell you why and we will also show that even the HTTPS protocol will not stop a skilled attacker (especially in combination with a careless user). We will explain what the HTTPS protocol is actually about, what browser and smartphone warnings mean and why not to use public proxy servers.

When AI knows too much: identity leakage and distorted security decisions

Sophia Petra Krišáková (CSIRT-UPJS)

During this workshop, participants will practically try out how language models can reveal sensitive information even from anonymized data and how their security decision-making is influenced by the context and formulation of the input. At the same time, they will see how such distortions can lead to incorrect conclusions in real scenarios and how they can be prevented. The workshop is interactive and focused on a practical understanding of AI risks in security systems.

Just one photo from your vacation and I will know where you are

Miroslav Opiela (ÚINF UPJŠ)

Can you find out your exact location on Earth simply based on the shape of an electric pole, the color of a line on the road, or the type of a road sign? GeoGuessr is a game that drops you at a random location on Earth and lets you guess where you are based on what you see around you. It turns out that the principles it is based on are surprisingly close to what we know in cybersecurity as OSINT (open source intelligence and analysis). At this workshop, we will show you how humans and artificial intelligence learn to recognize places in the world: from quick intuition about countries we know from vacations and movies to analyzing details that only a trained eye can see. We'll explain why the same skills that propel you through the game are also used to verify the authenticity of photos on the Internet or analyze the digital footprint that each of us leaves behind. And of course, we'll play GeoGuessr together.
