CSIRT-UPJS
Security Incident Response Team at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
CSIRT-UPJS is the first academic CSIRT team in Slovak Republic. The teams members are employees and students of Center of Information and Communication Technologies, the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Law. On 14 December 2016, we were included in the list of the teams for solving security incidents maintained by the international organization TF-CSIRT (Trusted Introducer).
The main activities of the CSIRT team are:
- carrying out proactive (preventive) activities and reactive activities aimed at minimizing the number of security incidents, or reducing the impact in the event of their occurrence
- increasing security awareness among university employees and students
- other activities necessary to ensure the information security of the university.
Other expert activities

1.Providing expert services in the event of a cyber security incident.
Expert activity is provided: 1. to accredited CSIRT units in accordance with applicable legislation (in particular, the National Cybersecurity Center SK-CERT within the National Security Agency and the government security unit CSIRT.SK within MIRRI) or/and 2. directly to a public administration entity. Expert activity will be carried out mainly for securing digital traces, performing digital forensic analysis, OSINT analysis, identifying indicators of compromise and designing security measures. The expert team will mainly assist in the phases of resolving a security incident - containment and eradication. This expert activity will be primarily carried out by members of the university academic team CSIRT-UPJS, which is an accredited security team within the TF-CSIRT community.

2. Participation in the preparation of reports, concepts, and the formation of legislative documents in the field of KIB.
Expert activity will consist of participating in the preparation of conceptual legislative documents in the form of expert opinions for the affected public administration entities. The expert team of the KC KB UPJŠ is composed of experts in the fields of informatics, law, and public administration, and this interdisciplinary approach can help provide higher quality outputs.

3. Solving strategic tasks in the field of CIS
Members of the KC KB UPJŠ are ready to participate in the preparation of conceptual materials in the field of CIS, for example, the National Cybersecurity Strategy for the years 2026 to 2030 and the relevant action plan in the part of the development of research and development in CIS and in the part of education in CIS. A member of the KC KB UPJŠ participated in the creation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy for the years 2021 to 2025 in the part of the development of research and development in the field of cybersecurity.

1. Support for education at universities and secondary schools in professional subjects in the field of cybersecurity
a) Support for education at universities and secondary schools through the implementation of experiential learning methods in teaching cybersecurity within the framework of the operation of so-called cyber teams at secondary schools as a professional (club) activity.
b) Provision of methodological support by members of the KC KB for other educational institutions, especially secondary schools and universities.

1. Analysis of public administration needs in the personnel area of CIS
Identification of specific gaps and needs, the solution of which is essential for strengthening public administration in the field of CIS, whether it concerns personnel needs (increasing the number of experts, skills and training) or technological needs and financial resources.

2. Professional advice in the preparation and implementation of projects implemented for public sector entities, especially the academic sector
(focusing on EU structural funds, the Recovery and Resilience Plan, but also cross-border funds and so-called Brussels challenges such as Horizon2020, European Research Council)
