Summer school of Cybercriminality 2025

Students of law and computer science visited Danišovce, united by a common goal – to pursue cybersecurity.

This year ran from June 29, 2025 to July 4, 2025.

The aim of the summer school is to show students the process of resolving a cyber security incident, as well as resolving a cyber crime. An important element of the summer school is interdisciplinary perspective, the program involved experts in digital forensics, security incident resolution, investigators or forensic experts.

The summer school participants gained a number of knowledge and skills, in particular they learned:

  • how to capture and analyze suspicious network traffic/activity,
  • what are the first steps in the event of a cyber security incident,
  • what is criminal procedure and what are the principles and rules in investigating computer crime,
  • what digital and other traces an attacker can leave behind and where to look for them,
  • what are malicious programs and how to analyze them,
  • why it is important to know the legislation dealing with cybersecurity and cybercrime, or
  • how to properly communicate a security incident both internally and externally.

To successfully handle not only the resolution of the cyber security incident itself, but also any further investigation of the crime, the participants had to combine their strengths and knowledge from various fields. The participants collaborated in teams consisting of computer science and law students.

The Cybercrime Summer School is organized as part of the project of the Cybersecurity Competence Center (abbreviated as KC KB in Slovak) of UPJŠ.
